How to Find and Join a 7 Days to Die Server

7 Days to Die combines first-person shooting, survival crafting, and tower defense into one of the most unique zombie survival experiences available. The game's multiplayer community runs servers with a wide range of configurations, from vanilla survival to massive overhaul mods that completely change the game. This guide helps you find and join the right server.

Server Types and Overhaul Mods

Vanilla 7DTD servers run the base game with default settings. These are great for learning the game's mechanics — crafting, base building, looting, and surviving the Blood Moon horde every 7th night.

Overhaul mod servers run major community mods that transform the entire game. Popular overhauls include Darkness Falls (harder zombies, new classes, more content), Ravenhearst (survival-focused with removed crafting shortcuts), War of the Walkers (expanded crafting and progression), and Undead Legacy (realistic survival). Each overhaul feels like a different game.

Some servers also adjust specific settings like XP rates, loot abundance, zombie difficulty, and Blood Moon frequency. LobbyLink shows these details when available.

How to Connect

To join a 7DTD server, launch the game and click Join A Game. The server browser lets you search by name or filter by settings. For direct connection, click Connect To IP and enter the IP and port (default 26900) from the LobbyLink listing.

For modded servers, you may need to install a mod launcher like the 7D2D Mod Launcher, which handles downloading and managing overhaul mods. Some server communities provide their own modpack download links.

Make sure your game version matches the server — 7DTD updates can break compatibility. Check the server listing for the required version.
