How to Find Resonite Sessions and Worlds

Resonite is a social virtual reality platform where users build interactive worlds, run community sessions, host events, and create entirely new experiences using the in-engine visual scripting and tooling. Unlike traditional game servers, Resonite sessions range from casual hangout worlds to elaborate interactive game experiences and live events. This guide explains how to find and join the best Resonite sessions through LobbyLink.

What is Resonite

Resonite is a social VR platform developed by Yellow Dog Man Studios, built on the foundations of Neos VR. It supports both VR headsets and desktop play, making it accessible whether you have a headset or not. The platform's core feature is its in-world creation tools — everything in Resonite is built using the platform itself, from simple decorations to full game logic implemented through a visual node-based programming system called ProtoFlux.

Unlike traditional multiplayer games, Resonite does not have a single centralised experience. Each session is hosted by a user or organisation and offers a completely different environment. Some sessions are simple social hubs for hanging out in voice chat. Others are elaborate games, art galleries, music venues, or educational tools built by the community. The variety is enormous and constantly evolving.

Sessions can be public (open to anyone), friends-only, registered users only (requires a Resonite account), or private (invite-only). When you browse Resonite listings on LobbyLink, public and registered-user sessions are the ones you can join without knowing the host. Session tags and descriptions help you understand what each world offers before you step in.

VR vs Desktop

Resonite fully supports desktop play with keyboard, mouse, and controller input. Desktop players and VR players coexist in the same sessions without any restrictions. If you do not own a VR headset, you can still access every Resonite session that a VR player can — the experience is different but complete.

In desktop mode, you navigate with WASD movement and mouse look, similar to a first-person game. You interact with objects using a combination of keyboard shortcuts and on-screen tools. Some highly interactive worlds are better experienced in VR — full-body tracking and hand presence create a different quality of interaction — but the vast majority of Resonite sessions are equally enjoyable on desktop.

Many users start on desktop to explore the platform before deciding whether to invest in a VR headset. The Resonite community is welcoming to desktop users, and many well-known community members primarily play on desktop. LobbyLink session listings do not distinguish between VR and desktop since both modes work in all sessions.

Types of Sessions

Social hubs are the most common type of Resonite session. These are worlds designed for conversation, exploration, and hanging out with others. They range from simple lounges with seats and ambient music to elaborate themed environments with activities and mini-games embedded throughout. Many social hubs run indefinitely with a rotating cast of visitors.

Creative worlds are sessions focused on building. Some are collaborative build areas where anyone can add to an ongoing project. Others are showcases of an individual creator's work — walking through a Resonite artist's world is a uniquely immersive way to experience digital art.

Games are sessions where the host has built a complete interactive game experience inside Resonite. These range from simple minigames to complex multi-stage adventures with puzzles, enemies, and narrative. Because Resonite's ProtoFlux system is Turing-complete, creators have built everything from chess to full RPG systems inside the platform.

Events are scheduled sessions — concerts, meetups, game nights, or community discussions. These have a set start time and often a specific agenda. Following world creators or communities on Resonite's social features, or joining Discord communities linked from LobbyLink listings, is the best way to know when events are happening.

Joining a Session

Sessions in Resonite are joined through the in-platform session browser accessible from within the game. Launch Resonite, and once you are in your home space, open the Dash (press Escape or your headset's menu button) and navigate to the Sessions browser. Here you can see all public sessions currently running, filtered by category, user count, or search term.

For sessions listed on LobbyLink, the listing will typically include the session name and description. Search for the session name in the Resonite session browser or look for the host's username if provided. If the session requires a direct join link or invite, the host's Discord (linked from the LobbyLink listing) is the best place to request access.

Some sessions are hosted on headless servers — dedicated cloud-based instances that run continuously without a human host being present in the world. These are the most reliable for persistent worlds you can visit at any time. Others are hosted on a player's personal machine and are only available when that player is online. The LobbyLink listing should indicate whether a session is consistently available or depends on the host's schedule.
